Rob’s 427 – Specs

What is it?A replica of a 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra (approximately – many variants of the original AC/Shelby Cobra were built. This car most closely approximates the 427 version.) This car was a "kit" manufactured by Factory Five Racing and assembled by me.
Engine Overview:The engine is based on a 1960's Ford FE 427 side oiler used in the orignal 1965 427 Cobra. This is a modern version with all new parts, electronic fuel injection and other newer technologies. The only original Ford parts are the timing cover and harmonic damper sleeve/spacer.

  • Displacement: 482 cubic inches (7.9 liters)
  • Power: 620/615 HP/TQ (crankshaft), 511/509 at rear wheels
  • Bore & Stroke: 4.25" X 4.25"
  • Block: Robert Pond aluminum iron cylider liners. Cross bolt main bearings.
  • Rotating Assembly: Scat forged steel crankshaft, forged H-beam connecting rods, forged Diamond pistons with full floating piston pins, balanced.
  • Oil pump: Melling high volume
  • Oil system: Aviad "T" pan, baffled w/trap doors, center sump & windage tray. External cooler, filter and Acusump.
  • Camshaft: Comp Cams custom hydraulic roller grind by Keith Craft Racing. Advertised duration (I/E) 315/318° Lift (@ 1.7:1) .635"/.633" Duration @ .050" 248/252° Lobe separation: 112°
  • Vavletrain: Crane hydraulic roller lifters, chrome-moly pushrods, Erson 1.7:1 roller rockers
  • Fasteners: ARP
  • Cylinder Heads: Edelbrock CNC ported by Keith Craft. Stainless steel valves, dual valve springs. Rocker oil flow restricted.
  • Induction: TWM "stack" injection (8 individual throttle bodies)
  • Fuel Injection: Speed density type with RC Racing 550cc injectors
  • Engine Management: Electromotive TEC GT
  • Ignition: Distributorless Electromotive crankshaft triggered w/4 coils.
  • Fuel System: Aeromotive A1000 electric pump, dual filters, baffled tank w/sump. -8 AN (1/2") supply, -6 AN return lines. Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
  • Quick Time steel safety bellhousing
  • March serpantine pulley system, 100A billet alternator, power steering pump
Chassis/Frame:Steel tube (round and square). Main frame rails are 4" .120" wall round tube
Suspension:Front: double wishbone independent, coil spring over custom Koni double adjustable shocks
Rear: 5-link Watts style Ford 8.8, narrowed, 9" ends, Detroit TruTrac, coil spring over custom Koni double adjustable shocks, front/rear sway bars.
Transmission:5-speed manual Levy 9310 alloy T5
Clutch:Quarter Master 8.5" dual disc low MOI
Brakes:Front: Wilwood 13" disk, 6-piston fixed caliper.
Rear: Wilwood 12.1" disc, 4-piston fixed caliper, drum-in-hat emergency
Other: dual Wilwood master cylinders with cockpit adjustable balance bar. Hurst line lock on front brake circuit.
Electronics:Littelfuse ISIS CANBUS programmable, Racelogic traction control
